The River City Chorale is a mixed voice community choir established in 1977. The choir meets regularly on Monday evenings, 7:00pm to 9:30pm, from September through May, with a break the last three weeks in December. We prepare three concerts each season, a Christmas Concert, (usually performed three times) a Cabaret Concert (usually performed four times) and a Spring
Concert (usually performed two or three times.)
Attendance
Members are expected to attend all rehearsals and performances. If illness or emergency necessitates absence from a rehearsal or performance, members are expected to notify their section secretary. Two absences from rehearsals for any reason are allowed during each concert preparation period. Members who miss three rehearsals during one concert preparation period may still sing the performances by passing a music proficiency test. Members who miss four or more rehearsals during any one concert preparation period may not sing the performances for that concert preparation period.
Leaves of absence
Members needing to be absent for an extended period of time may petition the RCC Board of Directors for a leave of absence for one concert period.
Dues
Annual dues for the 2019/2020 season are $175, payable by the first week in October. Dues for those joining any time after January 1st are one half the annual rate. A payment plan for dues can be arranged with the treasurer.
The River City Chorale Board of Directors
An elected Board of Directors conducts the business of the choir. Members of the Board of Directors serve three year terms.
The Director’s Advisory Group
The Director’s Advisory Group assists the director in making artistic decisions for the choir.
Fund-raising
Annual dues and concert ticket sales alone do not generate enough funds to support the choir. Members are expected to participate in the choir’s other fund-raising activities.
Concert attire
A committee of choir members addresses this issue each year. Members are expected to meet the standards set by the Costume Committee. Presently concert attire is:
Women: Committee approved black concert dress with various scarves or other decorations. Approximate cost is $60. The Pops Concerts may require different attire.
Men: Black tuxedo, black dress shoes, black socks, white formal dress shirt with wing collar and either black, red or green bow tie. The Cabaret Concerts may require different attire.
Retreats
Each Concert period includes a one day retreat on a Saturday to really dig into the music – we also get a chance to share a meal and fellowship together. It is always a great day of music!
