ABOUT THE COMPANY PROVIDING THE LEARNERSHIP:
Boland College is a public technical and vocational education and training college (TVET.) Their main aim is to provide the people of the Boland area with an education that is affordable, of high quality, lifelong and lines up with the economic and social needs of the country. DETAILS ABOUT THE LEARNERSHIP PROGRAMME:
Location: Paarl, Western Cape
Duration: 8 months
Number of positions available: 30
Boland Collge is offering a learnership opportunity at their Paarl Campus to candidates interested in pursuing a career and enhancing their skills within the Clothing Manufacturing Industry. This programme will equip the candidate with an understanding of the Clothing Industry, the fundamentals of how to construct clothing and relevant textile products, as well as pattern making and sewing.
Duration of the programme:
The programme will run for a duration of 8 months with classes taking place 2 days a week. The candidate will receive work placement at an approved Host Employer within the Clothing Manufacturing Industry for the remaining 3 days of the week.
Qualification after completion and selection:
Upon successful completion of the programme, the candidate will obtain National Certificate: Clothing and Textile Manufacturing Processes L2. This learnership opportunity was made possible by the collaboration of Boland College, the FP&M Seta, as well as various Host Employers.
Shortlisted candidates will be selected by a Selection Panel and will be invited in for an interview.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:
Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:
- Must have completed Grade 9
- Must be 16 years and older
- Must show a keen interest in the Textile Product Manufacturing and Product world
- Must be unemployed
- Must have a basic understanding of how to work a sewing machine (preferable)
- Must have a basic understanding of how to construct a garment (preferable)
