Selimathunzi presenter search 2025-2026
We are pleased to inform you about Selimathunzi presenter search 2025-2026
AFTER the successful and hectic Joburg auditions to find a perfect replacement for Selimathunzi presenter Kaos Matu, KwaZulu-Natal auditions are expected to be even bigger.
Thousands of hopefuls are expected to flock to Durban to try their luck at present.
Durbanites are known for coming in big numbers, causing many to sleep over outside the venue or in nearby bus terminals so that they can be first in the queue.
The first leg of the Selimathunzi talent search was held on Saturday, March 12 at the SABC in Auckland Park. Hundreds of potential presenters waited in anticipation, hoping to fill the big shoes left by Matu after hosting the show for 10 years.
The Durban auditions will be held at the Docklands Hotel (New Durban Point Waterfront) beginning at 10am.
During the first phase, the pre-judging session, the hopefuls get one chance at making a good impression by introducing themselves and showing the judges what they have.
Those who make it through the first phase of judging, move on to phase two, in which they have to impress the main judges. They are Phuthi Moloto from SABC1, outgoing Selimathunzi presenter Matu, Joshua Modau from Selimathunzi and celebrity guest judge Lelo Boyana.
Hopefuls between the ages of 21 and 25 must bring their ID, half- and full-length photos. They will be required to fill in forms before they can audition for the most exciting and ground-breaking entrance to television.
SABC1’s portfolio manager for drama Phuthi Moloto said of her expectations of the Jozi auditions: “Because SABC1 is such a huge brand hundreds of hopefuls turned up for the auditions. Jo’burg never disappoints.
“We’re looking forward to seeing a lot more people coming to auditions in the various regions.”
On Thursday March 24 the auditions will be held in Port Elizabeth at the SABC studios, where the celebrity guest judge will be Claire Mawisa, while Cape Town hopefuls will try their luck at the auditions scheduled for Saturday March 26 at The District Theatre with celebrity judge Didi Moses.
